The Jaffna Library is a significant cultural and educational institution established in 1933. The library’s architecture reflects a blend of traditional and colonial influences, and its collection was historically rich, comprising a diverse array of texts, manuscripts, and documents spanning various fields. Tragically, in 1981, the library was subjected to a devastating arson attack, resulting in the loss of a substantial portion of its invaluable contents. However, determined efforts led to the restoration of the library, which reopened its doors in 2003. Today, it continues to serve as a center for learning and cultural exchange.
